EVENT OVERVIEW
The MENA Downstream Digital Transformation Conference, which took place from 6-7 March 2023 in Sofitel Abu Dhabi Corniche Hotel, Abu Dhabi, U.A.E., shared best practices in implementation of Industry 4.0, IIoT and emerging technologies to drive production optimization, cost efficiency and sustainable operations of the region’s refineries, petrochemical and chemical plants.
The conference witnessed participation from national and international oil companies, with attendees joining primarily from U.A.E, Oman, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain. The central discussion themes revolved around leveraging Industry 4.0 to successfully navigate the energy transition, the role of AI-powered data analytics in driving business growth and capitalizing on emerging opportunities, achieving operational excellence through industrial AI and process automation, as well as optimizing asset reliability through predictive maintenance technology.
The conference further delved into scaling and driving successful digital transformation using cloud solutions, developing the downstream workforce to capitalize on digital opportunities through digital upskilling and also explored achieving integrated energy management at refineries and petrochemical plants for driving energy efficiency.
The forum also featured a dedicated workshop on leveraging digital transformation to achieve supply chain optimisation and mitigating challenges.

13:20– 14:20 | Workshop: Driving supply chain optimisation in MENA’s downstream organisations The Oil and Gas industry is a complex and ever-changing environment. Production and operations are typically high-cost, high-risk and capital-intensive. It is an industry that depends on an extensive supply chain with a focus shifting from reducing up-front costs to achieving total cost management and leveraging supplier innovation. Studies show that automation, robotics, and the development of remote operating capabilities will transform how Oil and Gas companies operate and leveraging IoT to connect end-to-end operations could generate approximately $220 billion of value for the industry. This workshop discusses:
